My journey towards my truth began as a teenager thanks to my parents, grandparents and aunts who ingrained within me a desire to explore the world. Growing up surrounded by diverse cultures in an immigrant enclave in Houston, Texas, fueled my curiosity for those with backgrounds different from my own. In my 20s, I discovered the practice of postural yoga and finally found a physical activity that I connected with. I admired my teachers at the various studios where I practiced, and aspired to follow in their professional footsteps. Yet fear, self-doubt and perceived societal expectations held me back.
By chance, I found myself at the doorstep of a family-owned business in a lesser-known industry, a serendipitous twist that shaped the next 20 years of my life. This unexpected opportunity propelled my career into an exhilarating upward trajectory within the corporate world, complemented by volunteer work as an event planner and marketing consultant for professional associations.
Enter into the picture: an idyllic ashram on an island in the Caribbean. After two visits, ten years apart, the irresistible pull of this sacred space and the knowledge it holds proved irresistible. In 2022, I left behind my corporate career behind and subsequently enrolled in the ashram's yoga teacher training program, seeking a deeper understanding of the teachings I had followed for decades, this time through the lens of a future instructor. The training also introduced me to ancient philosophical wisdom that now serves as a guiding light in my personal growth.
As a teacher, my purpose is to awaken the quiet, untapped peace within my students, guiding them to infuse it into their daily lives, and radiate it outward to transform the world around them. Living in an ashram for a month was a life-changing experience that sparked another calling: to use my event planning expertise to create meaningful experiences for others, helping them immerse in acquiring knowledge, nourishing mind, body, and soul, and demonstrating devotion to our higher consciousness through selfless service.
After a powerful and transformational mantra diksha at the ashram, I was bestowed my spiritual name which I hold dear to my heart with fervent reverence - Krishna. Bearing this sacred name is both an honor and profound responsibility, compelling me to embody boundless love, divine joy, and compassionate leadership that reflect the essence of Krishna in every thought, word, and action as I continue my journey serving creation with grace and humility.
